VIDEO – Digital Tools to Improve Your Business Growth

Hidai, Regional Director, talks us through his recommendations for digital tools to improve your business growth.

HI, My name is Hidai Degani, and I am the Regional Director for Boardroom Advisors in Ireland. I would like to talk to you for a few minutes about digital tools and how it can improve potentially your business. 

The main thing to remember and to know is that, it was a huge improvement in the last 3-5 years in all of those tools — from website, to marketing, and internet tools.

So today, it’s dramatically easier, cheaper,and quicker to implement those tools to improve your business. And there’s no need also for an army of developers or people on retainer to maintain it. Majority of those tools are built for business owners now and business people– can easily maintain and run and improve them.

And even if you do need some assistance, there is an ecosystem of consultants, and agencies or anyone that can come in, do the job, and then if you want them to stay around –they will, if not – they don’t need to. 

So I encourage every business to kind of look and assess the position and see what’s right for them. It’s not a one size fits all of course, it’s about what your business needs. 

Now, this is recorded during the Covid-19 and Coronavirus pandemic which makes those elements even stronger. There’s a bigger push for digital to many companies. Or on the other side, a slow down or even a shell down of business which is a good time potentially to look and see what can be done to improve these digital tools when business go back to trade normally. 

So, I would like to mention a few names and options which are my go to companies, companies I know well.But of course in every area, you can do research and there’s plenty of options in each one of them. 

Starting from website or simple websites online, WIX — can be a good place to start — very quick, very easy, to have a simple page or other templates if you want to have a presence there, to show you the best way in the digital world, is a good place to start. 

If you want to sell online as well, Shopify or Shopify plus for bigger businesses would be my next recommendation. And that is a full e-commerce platform, you can put as many products as you want, run promotions and everything from payment facilities already built in — so your customers will be able to purchase with credit cards – -all of them (Google, Apple Pay, On the mobile). It’s all there, you can analyse data and everything. So definitely, look at that, if you want to sell online.

Customer service – Zendesk would be a very good option to look at, which can provide you a one view of the customer – whether it’s a phone calls, email, chat or other channel. It brings them altogether to one place, including the ability to even help your agents provide answers based on knowledge base or all of that, that would be a good place to start. And you can scale up and down with that as well as you grow.

Email Marketing – Mailchimp is a basic one to start. Klaviyo is more advanced, more automation,to provide your customers, the right team, the right time based on their behavior, which can also integrate with Shopify very well if you need that integration.

Data Management is becoming more important for businesses. Google actually have a new reports – Google Data Studio, which can provide very quickly nice visually looking dashboards and reports which connect to multiple sources of data, which is interesting to look at and which keeps improving.

And on Digital Marketing, Google Ads or Facebook are the main two channels to look at as a business. And LinkedIn– it’s free or paid – if you want to go there.It’s another interesting channel, if your agency is there especially B2B and see what can be done. 

The platforms are becoming easier to use as well,  but again if you want a specialist, who knows digital marketing very well,plenty of agencies out there who can come in for a very very small budget all the way up to the billions. You can find what’s right for your business for the return of investment, in that sense. 

For accounting and payroll, tools such as Xero and Sage can provide you good value there. And you can automate and digitize the processes to save your men work and potential mistakes. Ultimately, you save time and money for your business. 

Of course there’s more, but I thought that’s a good list to start and think, What can I improve in my business currently in the immediate term, mid-term or long term, to actually get the benefit. Of Course technology is only good as it is, it does not provide value on its own but when you implement it in your business and where you get people to actually use it, these are where the value is created. And that is going to be a good opportunity to improve on that.
