Introduction to West Sussex

  • West Sussex economy is a diverse economy worth £22.8 Billion.
  • The latest estimate of GVA for West Sussex was £20,506m. Crawley has the largest economy at £4,647m, making over a fifth of the total West Sussex economy.
  • In 2015 there were around 39,800 businesses in West Sussex, contributing to around 9.1% of the regional total.
  • In 2014 there were around 351,000 employee jobs in West Sussex with 66% working full time.
  • Gatwick Airport transports 40 Million passengers per year and contributes approximately £2b per year towards UK’s economy
  • West Sussex has 81.4% economic activity and 79.2% employment rate compared to England’s 78% and 73.9% respectively.

West Sussex is home to home to 864, 000 thousand residents and 58.7% of which are of working age.

  • In 2019, the economy of East Sussex generated £9.5 billion in 2019.
  • Total GVA increased by 3.6% between 2018 and 2019, compared to a
    2.9% rise in the UK as a whole, and in 2019 was 18.2% higher than in 2014.
  • In 2019, the GVA per head in the county rose from £16,491 in 2018 to £17,077.
  • For the year 2018- 2019, The Finance and Insurance sector grew by 36%. The Transportation and storage were up 11%. Other business services also saw significant rises by 10%.
  • East Sussex saw a rise in the number of businesses in the region. 24,515
    active businesses were listed in 2019 up from 23,980 in 2018.

East Sussex is home to home to 848, 000 thousand residents and 61.9% of which are of working age.

Intro to Agile Project Management (September)

Hampshire Chamber of Commerce are pleased to partner with Shore PMS to deliver this Project Management full day course.

The application of Agile techniques represents the biggest change in project management approach in recent decades: what started as a cutting-edge manifesto for improving software development in 2001 is now driving mainstream methodologies that are in use every day, in every organisation, in all types of project. Agile is here to stay, and its popularity is rapidly increasing; it’ll soon be the De Facto approach for most organisations.

This interactive, one-day workshop introduces the Agile concepts, explains how it’s different to traditional project management methodologies, offers a brief insight into the tools, techniques and mindset behind it, and allows you to test the theory in a classroom environment. Networking South East (November)

Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Dorset, and Isle of Wight Chambers of Commerce are delighted to present our second Networking South East virtual networking session on the 24th November, 2021.

Our first Networking South East launched in May earlier this year and we were delighted not only by the large attendance we had, but also by the value this virtual event gave businesses. This series of events is created to connect the businesses of the southern Counties.
