Before joining Telefónica, he had developed his career in several management positions, notably at Johnson & Johnson and the Organización Cisneros, with international assignments in the USA, Latin America and Europe.

Involved in various leading European and International activities related to the Information Society. Chairman of the Executive Board of the European Telecommunications Network Operators (ETNO) Association for 5 years and Member of its Executive Board for nearly a decade. Member of the Steering Committee of the European Internet Foundation (EIF), as well as Chairman of the EU Services and Investment working group of the Mercosur-European Union Business Forum (MEBF). He was also a Member of the Board of Telefónica Luxembourg Holding Sarl, Telefónica Insurance SA and Casiopea Re, all Telefónica SA’s subsidiaries, and a Member of the Board of the EUBRASIL Association. He was an active Member of the Center of European Policy Studies’ (CEPS) and of the Friends of Europe Association. He is a member of the AD-HOC European Council of Business & Government.

Specialties: MA degree in Business Studies and Law from ICADE University (Madrid, Spain), MBA from the University of Notre Dame (U.S.A.) and an Executive Management Seminar from the Harvard Business School. Fluent in Spanish, English and German, he has a working knowledge of French, Italian & Portuguese.
